EXCLUSIVE: Ahmed Khan recalls Jackie Shroff’s reaction when he taught him to romance Urmila Matondkar in Rangeela

Ahmed Khan and Jackie Shroff collaborated on the action film Baaghi 3 (2020), directed by Ahmed Khan. The movie starred Tiger Shroff, Shraddha Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh, with Jackie Shroff playing a special role as the father of Tiger Shroff’s character. This marked a unique moment as Jackie and Tiger appeared together in the same film for the first time. Ahmed Khan, known for his high-energy action choreography, brought intense action sequences to Baaghi 3, making it a commercially successful film despite mixed reviews. His direction showcased large-scale stunts and thrilling fight scenes, a signature of the Baaghi franchise.

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, he spoke about his experience working with Ram Gopal Varma, “I was 19 Ram Gopal Varma spotted me and Saroj Ji aur Ram Gopal Varma ke dates clash hote the toh Saroj Ji mujhe bolte the ki tu chale ja you do the patch work. Ram Gopal Varma aur mera tuning baith gaya and he said ‘Ahmed I want you to do the film’ toh thodi der ke liye, a 19 year old boy, I thought do the film means I cannot, I don’t know how to do anything and this is my guru’s film. I asked Saroj ji, I asked, ‘aunty he was saying he wants me to do the film, ha Ahmed tu karle na mereko bhi waise interest nahi hai, woh south Indian gaane jaam nahi rahe’.“

He further added,“I said okay, I’ll do it. I told Ram Gopal Varma, she’s allowed me to do it. She said jab tu karlega na toh wapis aajana, 1-2 gaane karle south wale aise hi hote hai. Little did anybody know ki mai full ghus jaunga. Aur maine kiya woh, I went head-on mujhe gaane mile and the songs were haunting me, mai beat pakdu ya lyrics pakdu?”

Ahmed Khan on working with Jackie Shroff

Speaking fondly about Jackie Shroff, “A big support to me was Jackie Shroff also, ‘Bhidu tu bol kya karna hai mai karta hu.’ Jaggu dada you have to go and hold Urmila and turn her, ‘Aja bhidu tu dekh mai kaisa karta hu, teri life banani hai mereko’, and he used to do it.”
